so we've all seen the Apple iPhone eh?
it sure looks great, but I wonder if it really works that well
I'm not an apple hater, in fact I was really excited about this and planning to get one myself, but there're reasons why I'll have to carry 2 phones at the same time

1. lack of removable battery. after talking to jon last night, I realized that most of the phones in the US do not have user-removable batteries. this is a bummer because you don't always carry a charger around. 5 hrs of video time and 16hrs of music? I can imagine it might shrink to 3hrs with the wifi on. what a waste, so much for the great browser
2. lack of office document support. so we say this is an OSX core right? please don't be misled, this is similar to saying that windowsMobile is windowsXP-core. (thanks S4k1s). there are a lot of possibilities on this platform, but it's not god. for once it might not be able to handle ur pdf files or office documents, let alone typing on that screen
3. questionable input efficiency. just because americans are not used to using T9 doesnt mean that the on screen thumbpad would be a superior system. the japanese can use atok/shoin3/t9 faster than the IME on their PC. i really wonder how fast i can type on that 3.5" touchscreen. hopefully we will have ext BT qwerty keyboards
4. so-so if not outdated camera. s 2MP fixed focus and no flash is ok in america today, but not ok in asia today. my 2 year old NEC N840 has a 2mp fixed focus camera; by the time this thing is released in asia, we'll be surrounded by 5MP 3x zoom cameras with xenon flash
5. late release. i understand that apple does not want this thing to be revealed by FCC, so they might as well do it themselves. smart move. but then, due to limited production capacity, it wont get into asia until 2008. if SE/nokia/motorola/samsung get on with their projects to take down iPhone starting today, they'll be ready in the market at the same time. i have no doubt with samsung, they can copy so so frigging fast
6. durability phones tend to get dropped easily, how well can this thing cope?
7. lack of external memory slot. we don't carry cables around you know?
8. over-priced you will at least need a camera comparable to nokia n73 in order to justify the price

but other than that, yes this is a great device, great potential and very promising. just the right size 115x61x11.6mm at 135g. screen's 3.5" 320x480 (clie resolution?)
