i hate it when people post up things thtey make up and claim that as insider news. some of them are just laughable. at 3GSM, panasonic displayed 3 machines, the p902is, p900itv, and a umts proto. (some call it the p855i, you can find this in beijing too) a year ago they started talking about how panasonic will change p900iV to gsm, did it happen? no, the design was unpopular in japan. they downgraded P900is instead, was there autofocus as rumored? no!! it's a 2MP nu-mvc fixed focus module. p900iTV for vodafone?
"to be honest, i doubt if you really have insider info (let alone getting them from unreliable mainland chinese web sources)
1. restructuring (GSM/UMTS div) hasn't even finished yet 2. what you commented on the LED is basically stupid, just because you didn't see any external display on the 3gsm prototype but a glossy surface doesnt mean that they're going to put LEDs in. they stopped making it after P901iS because everybody hated it, also mitsubishi M800i failed to sell well, now you expect them to put this on to their flagship UMTS machine outside japan? i don't think so. panasonic has a history of changing their prototypes drastically (see the straight bar test machines before FOMA launch, and then the P2101v proto; and subsequently they changed the thickness a couple of times for their 2.5G PDC line even after spec announcemnt) 3. panasonic's licence to use linux OS only started from P902i. outside japan, panasonic already has Symbian contracts, which means that their next smartphone should be symbian based even when they are using a 100% open source linux, unless they break the symbian contract. panasonic is not sony, only sony managed to get all liscences at one time: symbian, windows and palmOS. eventually they gave up palmOS. panasonic communications is a very tiny tiny company comparing to sonyericsson, i don't think they want to put that much resources in migrating linux outside japan. they will most probably use UIQ symbian. 4. P901iTV was designed for FOMA, foma has 100% exclusive rights to that phone, it will NOT be released on vodafone... it's a competitor and it's against the rules!!! D-TMB phone for europe? fine, possible, but definitely not in the trademarked swivel+flip design of P900iTv"
some are claiming that the UMTS proto is a 902is early proto? da heck "you are completely wmaking this up 1. P902is was planned to have convertible covers right at the start 2. 2 buttons are missing, and the markers are so very non-japanese (at least one button must be kept to call up the i-submanu, unless they stop using Linux) 3. 90x series has to have assist LED in the spec. it is an essential requirement in the FOMA DM contract: compulsory. not an option; it would have bounced back to matsu.a if it's like this, just like Mitsubishi's music phone."
note: actually 902is and 900itv have GSM parts in it, it's just that the firmware's locked. it's ready at any time to become a 90xiG ___________________________________________________
living on 5hrs of sleep per day is crazy; by the 4th day, words start to make less sense to me. horrible day today, we had biocem engrish class and histology class with the best teachers (best at confusing and frustrating you). a lot of the stuff they are teaching are so new and so unclear that there's no reference we can find. take K cells for example, some people say NK=K=LDL, he says they're all different. some say LDL is a family of NK and K cells; some say K cell is a type of NK. yeah. good. makes so much sense. i used to like immunology, i seriously love it, it's one of the most amazing part of creation, how things will know where to go and how to react, how one thing will make up for the lack of others. but the speed and the amount they are teaching us right now is unbearable. long teaching hours, 8:30-5, now i just went through the materials they taught today, started off with preparing PBL, i still need to read UG for my exams!! i promised myself i'm gonna sleep early tonight, i think it's gonna be another unsigned cheaque.
tomorrow better be a better day.
