i received this belatant email from the accounts-fiance dept just now titled "outstanding account"; I was going to delete it, thinking it's some kinda scholarship crap
but, here's what i got
"According to our records as at 10/01/2006, the following debit note(s) is/are still outstanding in your student account:-
D/N No. Item Description Amount (HKD) Due Date ------- ---------------- -------------- -------- 33002 Comp Fee - MED (UG) 21,050.00 10/01/2006 - -------------- - Total: 21,050.00 - ============== 2. Late Payment of Fees According to the University's fee regulations, unless you have received permission in advance from an authorized officer to postpone payment to a later date, if you fail to pay the fees within 30 days after the due date, your name will be removed from the register of students. On de-registration, you will not be allowed to use any university facilities and may not be permitted to sit for any examinations. You will also be not provided with any services such as the issue of examination results and transcript, etc.
To reinstate your student status, you will be required to pay a surcharge of 10% of the outstanding fees, or $500, whichever is lesser, in addition to settling the outstanding fees. The University may additionally request you to compensate the University for any loss of interest for any late payment or non-payment of fees.
3. Settlement of Fees You are advised to pay the outstanding amount immediately using your Debit Note(s) which you have already received either through your Faculty Office/Hall or by post. I regret to inform you that unless all the outstanding account(s) are settled by 10/02/2006, your name will accordingly be removed from the register. If you have any questions, please contact this office immediately. Please disregard this reminder letter if you have already settled the outstanding fees."
and here's my reply
In fact I have just received the slip this afternnon (Jan12), and the post stamp was dated Jan11 which is one day after your official deadline. Prior today, I have not been notified whatsoever of the payment due date let alone the amount, WHERE to collect the slip, and HOW to be proactively informed at first place. I received zero approach: no emails, no announcements, no phone calls, no posts. Nothing.
Therefore I suggest your office to improve the effectiveness of your notification mechanism.
Anyhow I will take care of the Outstanding Account before Feb10 for sure.
