Went to wanchai and causewaybay with Tomoya and Sherla this afternoon. And yeah, I had a chance to play with the NX73v.
I was only allowed to have like 2 minutes, cuz they’re expecting me to buy or stn. Smaller than NX70v, not a lot, but big enough to make the difference. The things people are most concerned about:
The quality was about the same as NX70v, just that the auto white balance seemed to be more accurate. shutter lag was about the same. I prefer the shutter button on the hinge of the nx70v than this one at the side of nx73v. and yes, you can start the camera by pressing the shutter button, it took about the same time as the Nx70v to load up the camera app. The camera position, how ever, is placed nearer to the middle, when u’re taking picture of yourself, it’s easier to get the right angle.
the keyboard wasn’t as bad as some Japanese reviews would claim in my opinion. To me, it felt like a smaller version of NZ90 and a softer version of TG50 (of couse, NX73v keyboard comes with backlight, same color as TG, similar brightness)
3. size and built
the built feels more like a NZ than a NX. The smaller size isn’t that noticeable, but big enough to know the difference. The screen takes up a larger proportion of the machine, looks better, but area-wise it’s the same as NZ (3.8inch). the hinge was newly developed, felt more solid yet smoother than the old NXs to me.
4. new hand recognition software
not 100% sure about the non-japanese versions. But the Japanese version I was playing with today, had the new software for that (and on top of that, the original NX soft graffiti software). It wasn’t particular helpful, but it did improve the speed a little, as you can write continuously moving across the screen (the designated “boxes”). Kana recognition speed is about the same, or a little faster than the tradtional ATOK to me. I am not an experienced Japanese-typing palm user. The new software is ideal for those who would like to write the kanji directly instead of thinking about that kana (like me LOL).
