and for the umpteenth time...
Saturday, August 17, 2002
got back from home, so tired and sleepy.
30+ relatives at my house (only from my dad's side, can u believe that? my family is very fertile) my family is blessed to have so many children (that's what the bible says!!)

"Dignity and sensibilty are easily cast aside for a bit of foolish fun." ~ scott
starting from 9:30 to 6pm, i was hanging around at school, helping with the mega-school-function: da new comers' day. it was really exhausting, i have met more than 1000 people, talked to 300+ people. i dun like the feeling seeing people being cheated into thie so-called respectable school. when deep down there i know this is one of the worst u can get among all the so-called respectable school. parents' were VERY anxious about the school, they thought that getting into this school will guarantee the child a place at the medical/law school of a university ranked 32nd in the world (hong kong university). but the truth i learnt for the past 5 years isn't what u people all wanna hear. the reason why the school has one of the best results in hongkong for 20 years is not because of the quality of education. imagine, 300 of the top students in hongkong get into form1 in our school every year, at form3-form4, 10% drop out, at form5-form6 70% drop out for humanity stream and 33% drop out for science stream. if we're not getting the creme de la creme, that might be some kinda logical problem. what the school provided was a flock of bookworms with huge harddisk capacity and RAM to study with u, which in turn, gives u the pressure and hence the incentive to fight.
getting into form6 in our school is a different story. those with 6As can't get in, whereas i, who only got 3As, can get into the most competetive class. why? the reason is the stupid weighting system. i got As for all the most significant major subjects (i.e. phy chem bio), whre as they got As for bonus subjects such as chi lang, RS, econ. (chinese, religious studies and economics). i know i'm gonna sleep at school from 8am to 3pm at school monday to friday, then i'll save my energy for the extra tutorial class after school and OUT of school. there're good teachers, but good teachers won't get u high grades. in this hyper-realistic society of a densely populated area, grades are all we ask for to access all the 12billion people. so does getting an A mean that yer good? no it doesn't. does getting an F mean that u suck hard? no it doesn't.
the idea of getting an A has been degraded from an honour to a sign of exceptional luck or a valid proof that yer IQ exceeds 100, or a legitimate and righteous excuse for u to get into one of the best universities in the world.
how does education work?
i receive great education, but doesn't mean that i'm well educated.
